Good lighting but unstable

Ive had two of theese ones for about three months now, and for someone who know the hue universe it delivers what you think you are going to get. High lumen, so they are mounted just underneath the roof, and give plenty of lighting to the driveway. Th problem is that they are unstable; when they are turned on, sometimes both turn on, but sometimes on of the other are just blinking, and I have to turn it on and of many times before it works. Can happen to either of the lights but I dont think it has happened to both at the same time, that I can recall.

The product is well built and fairly easy to install. Colors match with my other hue lights I am using. The only issue is the mounting, thus the 4-star rating. This light will not mount on a surface mounted box. This must be mounted on a flush box. Phillips Hue should make an optional back cover for purchase that will mount to a surface mounted electrical box and maintain water tightness. It is a simple fix. Once installed, the hub picked it up after a few tries. Since installed, the light has worked flawlessly. I recommend this light!

The fittings for this light were apparently not tested by the designers. The light cannot sit flush to an exterior wall due to the positioning of the interior components. I could probably saw some metal to make it work but I don’t like buying products that need modifications out of the box (I am not alone; read reviews on other sites) so I’m on the fence on keeping it. There isn’t room for the electronics in the base and the metal base plate it attaches to; it’s fairly simple for a product designer to solve but it’s an extremely annoying issue from an end consumer perspective. All of the other Hue products are great, including exterior pathway lights, but this one is maddening. I have lots of experience installing interior and exterior light fixtures so it’s not me, it’s them. The light itself works as seamlessly as you would expect from any Hue bulb.
Good product, minor inconveniences.

Pros: Looks good, plenty bright. Cons: No built in weather stripping or anything to seal the edge, sort of a pain to get the wires tucked into the top half (bottom half is filled with electronic), and the bolts from the mount are a bit long (can't tighten it down until I cut them down a bit). These are just mostly an inconvenience and can be solved without much issue. Overall: Happy with my purchase, would purchase again.

A very bright spotlight, that pairs well with the Phillips Outdoor Motion Sensor. The ability to create “washes” in different colors is a nice plus, but I doubt I will use it frequently given the light’s purpose. Time will tell if the durability will match other Hue products I have purchased, but so far I am pleased. Light is expensive, no getting around that.
Looks great by the pool.

It was easy to install, and looks amazing! We decided to install Hue lighting to the exterior landscaping and decking at our home to complement the interior Hue Lighting we have. The Flood light was placed in an area to shin down on our pool. It really looks great and complements the remainder of the deck lighting around it as well.

This is my second time replacing a defective unit. This time I had to re-purchase it because Philips would not back their product. The only reason I'm trying for the third time is because it works with my existing outdoor smart lightning. This will be my last time buying a Philips Hue product if this does not work out.

the product is great. Just like the rest of my hue lights. However, it did not come with the back plate and the only solutions from Philip Hue was to replace the product. But i had already installed the light and didn’t want to go trough the process

I was excited to get this product because I enjoy the Hue bulbs I have on my bridge. the light looks great but I could not connect it to the bride despite very strong network signal. In the process of working with Phillips on an exchange.

It’s awesome. I love being able to control and customize the lighting in my backyard depending on the mood/need/event. With all of the outdoor socializing this summer and fall these are a welcome addition.
